How do we say goodbye to a woman who took ownership of her pain and trauma and used it as a means to help change the world? Angela shared in a statement with entertainment tonight. “Through her courage in telling her story, her commitment to stay the course of her life no matter the sacrifice, and her determination to carve out a space in rock and roll for herself and others like her, Tina Turner showed others who lived in fear of what a beautiful future full of love, compassion and freedom should look like.
Angela continued: “Her last words to me, to me, were: ‘You never imitated me. Instead, you reached deep into your soul, found your inner Tina, and showed it to the world. I will keep these words close to my heart for the rest of my days.”
“I am honored to have met Tina Turner,” added Angela. “I’m honored to have helped show it to the world.”
“So today, as we mourn the loss of this iconic voice and presence, she gave us more than we could have asked for. She gave us all of her. And Tina Turner is a gift that will always be ‘just the best,’” Angela said, referencing Tina’s 1989 hit song “The Best”.
“Angels, sing your rest… Queen,” Angela concluded.
