In March 2002, she started working as a news anchor at Doordarshan Kendra in New Delhi. After working there for about two years, he joined Zee Media Corporation Limited in Noida, India as an associate producer and anchor. In March 2005, he started working as a news anchor and senior producer at Network18 Media and Investments Limited, Noida. He worked there for more than two years. While working there he covered the Maya sting operation against Hindu gurus and saints. In November 2007, he started working as AEP/Senior Anchor at News24 in Noida. The two major stories he covered there were the cash-for-votes scam in the Lok Sabha and the Delhi blasts special report. In November 2008, he joined the Voice of India television network in Noida as Group Editorial Head. He worked there for about a year and in March 2010, he joined India News as Channel Head of India News Bihar and Jharkhand. He covered Mamata Banerjee’s special report on the Union Railway Budget. From October 2011 to March 2012, she worked as an associate executive editor and anchor at Sai Prasad Group of Companies in Noida. In April 2012, he joined Samachar Plus, Noida as an executive editor. Some of the major stories covered by him on the channel were conspiracy exposed against IPS Uday Shankar Jaiswal, Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta NK Mehrotra live and panchayat gone mad. After working there for almost 2 years, he joined News18 India as an Executive Producer in New Delhi. There he anchored the news show Bulletin with Atul Agarwal. In December 2015, he worked as an editor for News World India in Noida. He has also worked with the news channel IBN7 Live.

In June 2016, Atul started an international consulting company named MBIZ Tech Consulting Pvt. Ltd., Noida. The company is headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Some of her popular TV news shows are the news show Jo Kahunga Sach Kahunga and Big Bulletin. He has also worked as an event manager for various TV productions, satellite affiliation and operations management, brand positioning, relationship management and web analytics.

In the year 2016, his wife Chitra had lodged an FIR of domestic violence against him in the police station located in Sector 24, Noida. However, the couple resolved their issues.
Criticized for filing fake robbery complaint
In 2021, Agarwal shared a Facebook post alleging that some assailants robbed him of Rs 5,000 near Noida Extension. According to his Facebook account, while driving his Safari car, he was stopped by a group of five persons on a motorcycle near a police booth in Bisrakh, Noida Extension, Gautam Buddha Nagar. Aggarwal claimed that after pulling down his car window, a goon brandished a gun and demanded his valuables. Despite the alleged robbery, Agarwal did not file a formal complaint or FIR. Nevertheless, Noida Police started investigating the incident based on Agarwal’s social media posts. However, their interrogation soon debunked Atul Agarwal’s fabricated story as he confirmed that he had indeed visited an OYO establishment during the reported time, making it impossible for it to be a robbery. A team of five COG officers investigated the matter. Addressing the media, Noida Police said,
We examined all electronic and CCTV evidence related to the alleged incident. Munshi had alleged that the robbery took place near Hindon Bridge at around 1 am in the night, after which he went home. CCTV footage revealed that he had reached the Oyo Hotel room in Sector 121 after 1 am, where he spent the night. “The distance between the hotel room and his house indicates that it was not possible that the incident occurred.”
Based on digital evidence collected by the Noida Police, it was confirmed that Agarwal had paid for the Oyo room using his bank account, and Agarwal’s presence at the hotel has been verified through CCTV footage. After this Noida Police said,
Keeping all these evidences in mind, it proves that no robbery incident has happened with Atul Aggarwal and this fake case has been spread by him on social media for his personal family reasons.
During police investigation, it was revealed that Agarwal had gone for dinner to his female friend’s house on June 19 at around 7 pm. According to Aggarwal’s colleague, he left his friend’s house at around 10:40 pm after receiving a call from his wife Chitra.
