According to the New York Post, authorities detained Schwarzenegger after discovering the watch in his luggage. The wristwatch from the Swiss brand Audemars Piguet is worth $21,000. Schwarzenegger explained that he planned to auction the watch. The authorities detained the actor and the long detention got on his nerves.
Authorities asked Schwarzenegger a series of questions about his family and financial situation. Customs will reportedly charge Schwarzenegger with failing to register the watch.
“We have initiated criminal tax proceedings,” said Thomas Meister, a spokesman for the customs office. “The watch should have been registered because it is an import.” However, authorities reportedly never asked Schwarzenegger to submit any forms.
