Anil Vasantrao Deshmukh was born on 9 May 1950 (age 72 years; as in 2022) in Katol, Maharashtra. His zodiac sign is Taurus. Anil completed his schooling from Katol High School and completed his B.Sc. Went to Agriculture College, Nagpur to do. After the degree of M.Sc. degree. In 1995, Anil contested elections for the Maharashtra State Assembly from Katol constituency as an independent candidate. Anil joined the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition government in 1995.

From 1995-1999

Anil Deshmukh was appointed as the Minister of State for School Education, Higher and Technical Education and Cultural Affairs in Maharashtra. From 1999 to 2001

After winning the election, Anil Deshmukh was appointed as the Minister of State for School Education, Information and Public Relations, Sports and Youth Welfare. During this, he passed orders to start the construction of India’s second largest air-conditioned indoor sports stadium in Nagpur.

From 2009 to 2014

In 2009, he was the Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection in Maharashtra. Controversy

In 2021, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh filed a petition in the Supreme Court requesting a CBI investigation into the various corrupt practices of Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. These allegations against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh were made a few days after the investigation into the Ambani bomb scare case. Earlier, Sachin Waze was arrested for his involvement in the case and possible link in the murder of Mansukh Hiren. Param Bir Singh presented a letter in a press conference stating that Anil Deshmukh had asked Sachin Waze to collect the money. Rs 100 crore every month from around 1750 bars, restaurants and other establishments in Mumbai. Anil Deshmukh had asked Sachin Waje to recover the money. A total of Rs 2-3 lakh is earned every month from these 1750 establishments. Rs 40-50 crore every month.

In response to the letter, Anil Deshmukh tried to defend himself and said-

This is Parambir Singh’s conspiracy to derail the investigation into the explosive case and the suspicious death of Mansukh Hiren. The Chief Minister should conduct an impartial investigation into the allegations. This is an attempt to defame me and the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Anil Deshmukh also said that if Parambir failed to prove his claims, Anil would file a defamation case against him. he adds-

On 6 April 2021, the CBI registered a preliminary inquiry to probe corruption allegations against Deshmukh. On November 1, 2021, Deshmukh appeared before the Enforcement Directorate and after 12 hours of questioning, the agency arrested him on charges of corruption and money laundering and was sent to Arthur Road Jail. On 29 December 2021, his name surfaced in a supplementary prosecution complaint (chargesheet) filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering and corruption case. On 4 October 2022, despite granting him bail, the Bombay High Court stayed the case till 12 October after the Enforcement Directorate sought a stay on it from appealing against it in the Supreme Court. After he was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on 12 December 2022, the CBI sought time to challenge it in the Supreme Court and he was later released from jail on 28 December 2022.
