Aman Arora is an Indian politician and member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), elected as MLA from Sunam in 2017 and 2022. He is also the co-president of the Punjab state unit of the Aam Aadmi Party. Previously, he was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) and lost from Sunam Assembly seat in 2007 and 2012.

Aman Arora was born on Monday, 12 August 1974 (age 49 years; as in 2023) in Sunam, Punjab, India. His zodiac sign is Leo. He grew up watching his politician father Bhagwan Das Arora work for the welfare of the people of Sunam and Punjab. To improve public services, his family started a dental college and hospital as part of a charitable trust in 1996, using money earned from their business. Arora completed his schooling from General Gurnam Singh Public School, Sangrur and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Punjab University, Chandigarh (1996).

Aman Arora’s father, Bhagwan Das Arora, was a politician and member of the Congress who was twice elected MLA from Sunam, in 1992 and 1997. On July 3, 2000, he reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head on the second floor. Of his ancestral home in Sunam town of Sangrur district. Coming from a family of politicians, Aman Arora joined politics at a very young age. He entered politics as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). In 2007, he contested the Sunam assembly seat as an INC candidate, but he lost the election to SAD candidate Parminder Singh Dhindsa. In 2012, he again contested from Sunam assembly seat as a Congress candidate, but he lost the election to SAD candidate Parminder Singh Dhindsa. Influenced by Arvind Kejriwal’s politics for the welfare of the common man, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in January 2016. In 2017, Aman Arora won the Sunam Assembly seat by a margin of 30,307 votes, defeating Congress candidate Jaswinder Singh Dhiman.

On 10 May 2017, when Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann was appointed chief of the Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party, Aman Arora was elected co-convenor. He served on this post till 17 March 2018. The party spokesperson said that as state convenor, Bhagwant Mann will oversee all party affairs, while Aman Arora will specifically focus on developing the party structure within the state. In 2018, Bhagwant Mann left AAP in protest against party convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s apology to SAD minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia regarding the defamation case filed by Majithia against Kejriwal; Kejriwal had accused Majithia of being involved in the drug trade. At that time, opposition leaders in Punjab Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Aman Arora had also resigned from their posts. However, the party did not accept his resignation.

In 2022, Arora was re-elected as MLA from Sunam by a margin of 75,277 votes, defeating Congress candidate Jaswinder Singh Dhiman. Aam Aadmi Party won a strong majority of 79% in the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election by winning 92 out of 117 seats and Bhagwant Mann was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab. In July 2022, Mann expanded his Council of Ministers by including five MLAs in his cabinet, including Aman Arora from Sunam seat, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar from Amritsar (South), Fauja Singh Sarari from Guru Har Sahay seat, Chetan Singh Jaura Majra Were. Family angry with Rajinder Deepa
In March 2008, Aman Arora and his brother-in-law Rajinder Deepa made headlines over a family feud. Deepa had accused Arora of assault. Deepa claimed that he and his wife Sonia Arora (Aman Arora’s sister) had gone to Chandigarh for some work when they received a call saying that Aman Arora and his goons had illegally occupied their house. . When Deepa reached her house, Arora and others allegedly attacked her with iron rods. Sonia testified in court that she was present when Deepa was attacked. On the other hand, Arora’s mother Parameshwari Devi accused Deepa of forcibly entering the house and misbehaving with her. She had complained to the police that when her son Aman tried to save her, Deepa and her men beat him with rods, leaving him seriously injured. After this, both Aman and Deepa were admitted to the hospital under police protection. The ongoing feud took a strange turn when Deepa ran away from the hospital where she was admitted under police protection. Five policemen were suspended for dereliction of duty. While the police were looking to arrest Deepa, Youth Congress workers took to the streets and staged a sit-in, forcing the police to take action against the negligent policemen. Aman and Deepa were not on good terms after the suicide of Aman’s father and Congress minister Bhagwan Das Arora in 2000. After the demise of Bhagwan Das, his wife Parameshwari Devi contested the by-election from Sunam in 2000, but she lost to Parminder Dhindsa. In 2002, Bhagwan Das’s daughter and Deepa’s wife Sonia Deepa Arora contested the Sunam seat on a Congress ticket, but she lost to Parminder Dhindsa. At that time Deepa had accused Aman of opposing her sister. In 2007, when Aman contested the assembly elections from Sunam on a Congress ticket, Deepa contested against him independently to ensure his defeat. Due to internal strife, the family lost the assembly elections from Sunam assembly constituency three times in a row in 2000, 2002 and 2007. In 2011, it was reported that Arora’s family had reconciled after 11 years of family feud. Apparently, Congress chief Amarinder Singh played the role of mediator between them. Both Arora and Deepa eventually buried the family feud before the 2012 assembly elections, as the Congress warned the family to either mend their ways or else lose their ticket altogether. So, they decided to support each other no matter who got the ticket. However, when Arora got the Congress ticket in 2012 and Deepa did not, Deepa went back on her agreement. While Arora withdrew the 2008 case, Deepa pursued her own private complaint which she had filed in January 2009. In 2023, a local court in Sangrur sentenced Aman Arora to two years of rigorous imprisonment in a 2008 family dispute case filed by Deepa. The court also sentenced eight others, including Arora’s 85-year-old mother, to two years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the culprits. He was convicted under IPC section 452 (house trespass) with a fine of Rs 5,000 and IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 148 (rioting, being armed with a deadly weapon or using a weapon as a weapon). He was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment under the Indian Penal Code. of an offence, likely to cause death), and 149 (offence committed by any member of an unlawful assembly in prosecution of the common object of that assembly).
