beating a government official with a bat
In June 2019, he came into limelight when a video of him went viral in which he was seen attacking a Municipal Corporation official with a bat. According to sources, Akash had visited the house of a BJP supporter, where the Municipal Corporation had brought bulldozers to demolish it as it was designated as a “dangerous building”. After the incident, a case was registered against Akash under sections 353, 294, 506, 147 and 148 of IPC at MG Road police station. After this he was produced in the local court, from where he was sent on judicial remand for 15 days. He talked about this in an interview and said,
I had brought this to the notice of IMC officials and requested them not to take any action, but they did not listen to my request and sent a team to demolish the building. As soon as I came to know about this, I reached the spot and tried to explain the matter to the concerned zonal officer, but he did not even listen to me. That’s when I lost my patience.”
In his defence, many residents of Indore took to the streets and demanded his immediate release from jail. He was criticized by many politicians for his actions, including senior members of the BJP. Residents of Indore also put up posters in the city in support of him, which read, “Salute to Akash ji.”

Controversial statement given while addressing students
In November 2022, Akash Vijayvargiya, while addressing the students belonging to the Phool Mali community, had given a comment about rapists and murderers. In his speech, he said that the courts should not only punish the wrongdoers but should also send their parents to jail for one or two years. He further said that a person commits such crimes because of the fault of his parents as they are unable to give him better values. He said,
If a person commits rape then in my opinion not only he but his parents should also be punished for at least one or two years. Similarly, the parents of the murderers should also be sentenced to two-three years’ imprisonment along with the convict. It is the duty of parents to make their children responsible citizens with good character and values. If children do something good then the credit for it goes to the parents. If they do something bad then parents are also responsible for it.
