On his 17th wedding anniversary, American actor Robert Downey Jr. sent a sweet tribute to his wife Susan. On August 27, the 57-year-old actor took to Instagram to reveal a never-before-seen photo of the couple on their traditional Jewish wedding day. He captioned the photo as follows:
“Today we celebrate 17 years of absolute marital bliss. Susan, you are my backbone, cornerstone and lucky star, all in one.”
Several friends and family members congratulated the couple in the comments section of the post.

Susan and Robert Downey Jr. they first met in 2003 while working on the movie Gothika, produced and directed by Joel Silver. She was the vice president of Silver Pictures, and her big hit was the movie Gothika, in which Halle Berry also starred. The producer told Harper’s Bazaar that she was not “even a little bit” attracted to the Iron Man actor, but found him “strange”.
Susan recalls an incident after meeting Robert:
“We were in Montreal getting ready for Gothika and having lunch with the director and Halle Berry. Everyone else spoke Japanese, but Robert informed us about the ‘superfood’ oatmeal. Sam packed the oatmeal for lunch. And he had boxes full of different plants and everything. Then he started practicing those weird but yogic exercises. He was fascinating.”
The couple started dating and quickly fell in love. They were married in 2005 in Amagansett, New York. Susan is also credited with helping Robert Downey Jr. Overcoming drug addiction. The Sherlock Holmes producer allegedly gave the actress a choice between herself and drugs. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2009, she said:
“This won’t work.” I made it clear that nothing can happen if you stay with me.
After Susan’s ultimatum, Robert stopped at a restaurant along the Pacific Coast Highway and dropped the drugs he was carrying into the water.
“I believe he sees what we have. There’s something amazing going on there, which we can’t touch with our fingers. He often claims that when we come together, we become a third entity that neither of us can be alone, and I believe him.”
While discussing his experience with The Things news site, Robert Downey Jr. claims that his wife helped him deal with his dark past.
» I suppose the only explanation is that I’ve become more and more like her. I’m still trying to figure out what happened. No matter what I craved when I met Susan, I don’t know how much more I would enjoy what I got.”
Robert Downey Jr. and Susan welcomed a son, Exton Elias, in February 2012 after marrying in 2005. Two years later, in November 2014, the couple welcomed their second child, a girl named Avri Roel. However, this is not the first time Robert Downey Jr. From 1992 to 2004, he was married to singer Deborah Falconer. Indio Falconer Downey is the child name of the former couple.
