Sally McNeil, nicknamed Killer Sally, caused a stir after she claimed to have shot her husband, bodybuilder Ray McNeil, during a violent incident at her home in which he allegedly tried to choke and beat her. Decades later, Netflix is preparing to tell its story in Killer Sally, a three-part docuseries that will release on November 2, 2022.
The prolific case is one of the rare cases where the killer contacted 911 and reported her husband’s death, assuming she was acting in self-defence. Although Ray McNeil’s history of an abusive relationship, steroid use, and the testimony of two children corroborate many of the details of the domestic violence allegations, prosecutors had enough suspicions toward Sally McNeil. 1) Sally suffered a round of abuse that culminated in the death of her husband, Ray McNeil.
Although Ray McNeil is known for regularly assaulting Sally, that’s not the only thing she’s had to go through in her life. Before meeting Ray, she seems to have had a bad life with alcoholic parents and a failed marriage. Ray also abused and assaulted her on a daily basis. During the interview, she recalled one of his abuses:
“When he caught me chatting with another man at work, he threw me across the room. When we got home, he grabbed me like a rag doll and threw me across the room. He broke my coccyx, which is located behind my coccyx.”

After being discharged from the Marines, she pursued a second job as a muscle fan, the kind of muscle fetish that men pay to pursue her. Some of them are also recorded. She used this money to maintain the house and pay for Ray’s steroids.
