10 Best Clothing Items in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

After Pokémon X and Y, trainer customization became a major feature in all the main Pokémon titles. Along with being able choose the protagonist’s eye color, skin color, hair color, and hairstyle, players can also buy various clothing items to personalize their character even more.

Although Pokémon Legends: Arceus doesn’t have as many options as other previous entries like Pokémon Sword and Shield or Pokémon Sun and Moon, there’s still plenty to choose from, especially compared to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. From the large selection, there are some items that stand out among the rest.

Eyeglasses

Anyone who regularly wears glasses knows that it’s super rare to find decent glasses customization in video games. Most games with character customization, like Dragon Age, don’t even have the option to wear glasses, and the few games that do, like Stardew Valley, tend to look terrible.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is one of the few exceptions. Because of the large lenses and thin frames, the eyeglasses in this game don’t obstruct the trainer’s face. Also, players don’t have to worry about whether their glasses will match their outfit because 11 different colors are available as soon as the Clothier is unlocked. Four more colors, which consists of Azalea, Chartreuse, Scarlet, and Teal, are added after completing the “Colorful New Looks” quest.

Brimmed Hats

The Daffodil, Sapphire, and Crimson Brimmed Hats in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

After defeating Rye’s Lucario and completing the “Steely Lucario” quest, Brimmed Hats will be unlocked at the Clothier. These hats are modeled after the hat worn by the fan-favorite character Riley from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and their remakes. During those games, Riley partner Pokémon is a Lucario, and he gives the trainer a Pokémon Egg that hatches a Riolu.

Now, fans of the character, or players who were simply jealous of his hat, can have their own Brimmed Hat. If the trainer wants to completely match Riley, they can choose the Sapphire version, but there’re many other colors to choose from as well. For example, players can wear the Daffodil version to invoke The Man with the Yellow Hat energy or the Crimson version for that Carmen Sandiego energy.

Ninja Attire

The Tangerine, Crimson, and White Lily Ninja outfits in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

While many players may turn to the various Naruto games to live out their dreams of being a ninja, Pokémon Legends: Arceus also lets players experience this fantasy by providing some simple but stylish Ninja Attire. After completing the main story quest “Atop Mount Coronet,” these outfits are finally unlocked at the Clothier.

Like many other clothing items at the shop, trainers can initially choose between 11 vibrant colors, and four more are added after the “Colorful New Looks” quest. Combined with Ninja Mask and Ninja Footwear, trainers can truly embody the aesthetic, though it sadly won’t improve the trainer’s stealth skills.

Sinnoh Outfits

The Ocher, Chartreuse, and Azalea Sinnoh Outfits in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

After catching most of the Pokémon in the Hisui region and defeating Arceus at the Temple of Sinnoh, both the Sinnoh Outfits and the Sinnoh Sandals will be unlocked. These outfits seem to be based off the light tunics used in many ancient societies in real life, which makes sense considering the Sinnoh region is possibly the oldest region in the Pokémon universe.

While it may initially seem like the green pants that come with the outfit would make certain color combinations not work, the simple design and the soothing shade of green actually go well with all the available color options. Subtle details, such as the light gradient at the end of the white fabric, make this clothing item a perfect fashion choice.

Mystery Gift Clothing

The Baneful Fox Mask and Growlithe Kimono mystery gift in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Similarly to previous Pokémon titles, players can receive free mystery gifts for Pokémon Legends: Arceus. If the game is purchased before May 9, players can obtain the Hisuian Growlithe Kimono Set and the Baneful Fox Mask as long as they have an internet connection and they have played at least two hours of the game.

To emulate Hisuian Growlithe’s fur, the kimono is red with black stripes, and has white fuzz at the ends. Meanwhile, the Baneful Fox Mask is based on the Hisuian Zoroark.

Diamond and Pearl Clan Outfits

Diamond and Pearl Clan outfits in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Even though Pokémon Legends: Arceus isn’t split into two games, the “Diamond” and “Pearl” separation is still represented by the two rival clans: the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan. Corresponding to Legendary found in the versions of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and their remakes, the Diamond Clan worships Dialga and the Pearl Clan worships Palkia.

As a member of the Galaxy Team, the player works with both clans as a neutral peacekeeper. After successfully completing the main story, the trainer can finally wear either of the clans’ uniforms.

Patterned Kimonos

The Stars II, Houndstooth I, and Large Dots II Patterned Kimonos in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

When the Clothier is first unlocked, the player only has access to plain kimonos. But, over the course of the game, players can complete certain side quests for the Clothier Inspiration quest-line in order to unlock other styles, which includes Patterned Kimonos.

The wide variety of available patterns make these kimonos perfect for players who want to add a personal touch to their look. Also, because of the loose fabric and eye-catching designs, the outfits sometimes sort-of look like pajamas, and it’s funny to see the trainer run across the Hisuian outdoors wearing these pajama-esque clothes.

Pokémon Kimonos

The Sky, Blank, and Flame Pokémon Kimonos in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

As the player progresses through the game, they will encounter side-quests that involve various kinds of Pokémon. Some of these quests will unlock Pokémon Kimonos after they’re completed. For example, after completing “The Mysterious Will-o’-the-Wisp” quest that involves the Fire-type Pokémon Chimchar, the Clothier obtains the Flame Pokémon Kimono.

Similarly to the Patterned Kimonos, the Pokémon Kimonos have vibrant and unique patterns that give trainers an extra bit of pizzazz to their character. But, unlike those kimonos, these patterns are a bit less busy, and players can represent their favorite Pokémon types by wearing these.

Festival Tops

The Crimson, Amethyst, and Blue Spruce Festival Tops in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

For players who find the “Everyday Kimonos” too simple and the other kimonos too busy, the “Festival Tops” are the perfect solution. After reaching Survey Corps rank three, players unlock the Festival Tops. These outfits may be based off yukatas, which are summer kimonos primarily used for festivals.

In contrast with the Everyday Kimonos that are simply a single color, these Festival Tops have a pattern on the bottom that gives these pieces a little bit of flavor. Together with any Festival Masks the player may unlock along the way, trainers will be ready for any celebration that happens.

Fancy Kimonos

The Wyrdeer, Hisuian Typhlosion, and Rowlet Fancy Kimonos in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Even if players don’t have the Hisuian Growlithe Kimono Set, there are many “Fancy Kimonos” players can unlock during their journey. While some of these kimonos are unlocked at certain points in the game, most of these are obtained by either capturing certain Pokémon, defeating a frenzied Pokémon, or raising a certain Pokémon’s research level to 10.

For example, players receive the Rowlet Fancy Kimono if they raise the Grass Flying Dual-type starter Rowlet’s research level to 10, and they get the Wyrdeer Fancy Kimono as soon as they unlock the Wyrdeer as a ridable Pokémon. Since these Fancy Kimonos have the most aesthetically pleasing and detailed designs, it’s no surprise that many players consider them to be some of the best clothing options in the game.
