Zendaya details the struggles of child stardom
Being a child star is very demanding. There are many hours and little rest. Children are asked to carry the weight of a professional while trying to grow. Although Zendaya is no longer a teenager, she says that sometimes she feels like she is still growing.
“I’m almost going through my teenage angst phase now because I didn’t have time to do it before,” she said. “I felt pushed into a very adult position: I was becoming the breadwinner for my family very early on, and a lot of role changes happened and I just grew up.”
She also added that the demand for perfection as a child star has affected her confidence as a more experienced actress.
“Now, when I have these moments in my career, like the first time I direct a film that is going to be in the cinema, I feel like I shrink and I can’t enjoy all the things that are happening to me, because that’s who I am,” he added. .
“I’m very tense, and I think I’ve had it since I was a kid and I never had the chance to try it. And I wish I had gone to school.”
