  • During an interview, Zakir revealed that his family was connected with music for ages. He said,

I come from a family that has a 300-year-long relationship with music. For my parents, even getting a 9-5 job was an unorthodox thing to do.”

  • Zakir credits his father for the success that he has achieved in his life.
  • Surprisingly, at one point in time, Zakir and another AIB comedian, Abish Mathew were Radio Jockeys on different radio stations.
  • Reportedly, his family was not happy with his decision of quitting his studies and pursuing a career in Radio. So, in order to cope up with the tension, Zakir stopped taking money from his family and lied about having a job.
  • While in Jaipur, Zakir did a number of odd jobs to support his day-to-day expenses.
  • Apparently, when Zakir was leaving Jaipur, he didn’t have the money to pay the rent of his room. At that time, his landlord wrote it off and also offered him some money to travel back to Delhi.
  • During an interview, Zakir shared that he was bullied as a child. His classmates made fun of his complexion and appearance and such incidents made him bold and helped him make humour his shield.

  • During an event in Delhi, when asked to comment on Gutthi’s (female lead character played by the comedian, Sunil Grover in Comedy Nights with Kapil) exit from the television show “Comedy Nights with Kapil,” Zakir said,

What Gutthi does is not comedy. Especially in Delhi, comedy has grown to become mature and versatile. Gutthi is not versatile.”

    He further added,

Live comedy is very different from what you see on TV. Live shows are like telling a joke to your friend, but on TV, the jokes have to go through a lot of censorship…but Gutthi is still better than others. Kapil Sharma’s kind of comedy is based on insulting people. It’s very Punjabi. Tu mota hai, tu kaala hai, tere daant kharab hain – that’s what their jokes are about, and I don’t find it funny.”

  • According to Zakir, if not a comedian, he would have been a music teacher.
  • He shared in an interview that his dream project was to design a farming course for teenagers where he intended to groom their personalities.
