Zachary Levi joins Shazam! wrath of the gods
Screen Rant: Zach, you guys have made my favorite superhero movie of the year so far. Great job! this is exactly what i want Shazam 2. Shazam is a unique character because he really is a kid at heart, but this time he’s 18. How has that changed your attitude toward the character?
Zachary Levi: The first time he was 14-15, now he’s 17-18. That’s a gap of three years, and that’s a big gap for a normal kid. [They] That time has changed a lot, so I’m just trying to take advantage of it.
Apparently, he didn’t go from 14 to an adult. But where is the middle ground? Where did he grow up? Where does he still lack that maturity? I’ve always wanted to see how 17-year-olds talk to each other. What words do they use? What is their slang? something like this. So I’m just trying to fit in as much as I can and hopefully give a meaningful performance.
marvelous. In the first movie, Billy tries to answer questions about his mother. And around this time, he struggled with imposter syndrome and a fear of abandonment. How does that affect his psyche as a superhero?
Zachary Levi: I think it’s because of his fear of losing his family, and being a superhero and the leader of a superhero family, it all boils down to that point. He’s trying to bring people together; we have to work together. But it’s also because he really wants to be a well-run machine on a super team. I think those two things conflict a bit in this regard.
We don’t know what the future holds for DCU, but I certainly hope Shazamily has a place in it. Shazam has traditionally been associated with the Justice League, Shazamily and even the JSA. Where would you like to see him go next?
Zachary Levi: They can go anywhere they want. I have known Peter Safran for many years because he is my boss. He’s my boss now, but he’s always been my boss as my producer. I have known James for many years and have been a fan of his work for many years. I think he is a visionary. He really understands world building and I’m sure they’ll suggest some really interesting paths and directions for all of them. Not only shazam [and] Shazamily, but all the characters in DCU live a really great life and make great movies. Wherever they bump into me, I get very angry.
there will be one Batman: Brave and Bold A movie is coming out and Batman will be teaming up with his son Damian. Who would you like to see him collaborate with if Shazam: The Brave and the Bold?
Zachary Levi: God, that’s like asking an alcoholic what their favorite drink is! I think whoever goes with Shazam or Billy, he becomes a puppy. For example, “Wow, that’s great. Well, what are we doing?” Right? As for Billy’s stupidity, they end up being straighter boys.
I really think Green Lantern would be a really interesting character. Lantern Corps; Their possibilities are endless, it’s almost as good as their inventory creation ability. I think, combined with the child’s affection for Billy, [means] We will have a lot of fun.
