Yash Dhull was born on Monday, 11 November 2002 (age 19 years; as in 2021) in Delhi. Their zodiac sign is Scorpio. He started his cricket journey at the age of six. One day he went to the nearby field to play cricket with the senior boys. He requested him that he also wanted to join but he refused. His mother saw this entire scene and then enrolled him in Bal Bhawan Cricket Academy in Dwarka (Delhi). Later, he played several matches for Delhi and was soon selected in the India Under-19 team. On 19 December 2021, the Indian team for the Under-19 World Cup and Under-19 Asia Cup was announced where Yash Dhull was made the captain of the team.

His promotion as captain of the Indian team resulted from his performance in the Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy 2018–19, where he scored an unbeaten 185 against Punjab. In that match, under his captaincy, Delhi reached the knockout stage after eight years. Additionally, he has captained Delhi Under-16, Under-19 and India ‘A’ Under-19 teams. But as the COVID pandemic affected the entire country, Yash had to remain confined to his home, just days before he was to travel to the National Cricket Academy. In October 2021, he became the leading run-scorer in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2021–22 season, where he scored 302 runs with an impressive average of 75.50 in five matches for the DDCA team.

  • He always wanted to be a medium pace bowler but turned to batting on the advice of his coach Pradeep Kochhar at Bal Bhawan Cricket Academy. Talking about his coach he said,

    “It was because of his guidance that I could become the captain of Team India in Under-19 due to my better batting.”

    “The thing that stood out immediately was Dhull’s understanding of the ball. As the years progressed, Kochhar saw a quality that could not be taught. He did not let the pressure affect him. He was intelligent, calm and controlled his emotions well. This nature makes them special. Nowadays it has become difficult for the youth to bear the pressure of expectations. Yash is an exception.”
