Roman Reigns suffered a perforated eardrum during WWE’s WarGames match series of survivors, and he’s clearly still dealing with that injury. The tribal leader is said to have been emotional after the main event of the show. Somewhere in the game, Kevin Owens hit him with a blow that caused his eardrum to fail. Reigns and Owens reportedly had a backstage argument after a WarGames match, a venue that Roman felt was unplanned and unnecessary. It’s not clear whether the two are still hot, but not to the point of having to change the booking plan of either of them.
In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer newsletter, Dave Meltzer gave an update on Raines’ injury: “rules and [Drew] McIntyre is currently out due to a ruptured eardrum during the Survivor Series. It’s a short-term affair and the two will be back soon. Reigns is not on any show after Christmas, including MSG.“Missing the Madison Square Garden show is notable as WWE often tries to create an annual event with a big name for the New York crowd.
Bloodline motivated enough to survive without Roman rule
WWE did a great job building Roman Reigns and making him feel like himself knock down And rough. The shows have a different vibe when he’s on, but he doesn’t get to air every week. Therefore, having him out for a few weeks to deal with this eardrum problem won’t spoil any ongoing bloodline plot. If anything, it opens up some exciting opportunities for Triple H and his writing team.
Things seem to be going well between Sami Zayn and The Usos, but now it looks like something is wrong with Solo Sikoa. He hasn’t played well since then The stream of survivors. WWE has established the lineage story as a slow-burn story, and Reigns will be off the air for a few weeks, which should garner interest. However, there are bound to be on-screen issues over the next few weeks, and viewers will wonder exactly how Raines will react when he’s able to return. Paul Heyman could also give fans more mic time. As for the consolation prize, this is a good one.
As for Reigns, there is information that WWE has no intention of letting him compete Elimination chamber February 18. It seems like he won’t appear on TV until then, but he doesn’t have an urgent need to come back. Bloodline has enough momentum now, WWE needs Roman Reigns to feel 100% as the company grows wrestling maniac season. As reported by Meltzer, there is no reason to believe that Reigns will not be back and able to compete physically anytime soon.
