Why You Want To Collect Gimmighoul Coins In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Mysterious little metallic gray Pokémon are hidden all over Paldea in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and while they seem a little odd at first, there’s a good reason for trainers to be collecting the coins they hand over once they are found. Gimmighoul is one of the smallest Pokémon and is a new addition to the Gen 9 Pokédex. Gimmighoul is actually found in two different forms, the Roaming Form and the Chest Form. The little metallic friend hidden around the world giving out coins to trainers who find it is Gimmighoul in their Roaming Form.

Although it was previously leaked, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet‘s Gimmighoul is still a bit of a mystery to unravel in the games. They can only be caught or battled when in their Chest Form, which is typically found around some of the ruins scattered throughout Paldea. Meanwhile, the sneaky hidden Roaming Form is the one that provides players with a few coins for finding them. Players will want to seek out and collect these coins though, as they eventually need to collect a whopping 999 of them.

What Gimmighoul Coins Are Used For In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

This Ghost-type Pokémon, Gimmighoul, can actually evolve into a pretty extravagant and powerful Pokémon called Gholdengo if trainers know what they have to do. Unlike other Pokémon evolutions, the Gimmighoul requires the player to have collected 999 Gimmighoul Coins before it can evolve. However, that shiny golden Gholdengo is impressive to behold once it’s accomplished. Evolving Gimmighoul into Gholdengo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may not be an easy feat, but it is worth it.

The Gimmighoul Roaming Forms typically only provide players with a handful of coins, although there are rumors that the number has a very small chance of getting as high as 200 coins. Most likely, players will want to battle the Chest Forms for a chance of getting between 30-777 coins, though typically players are seeing numbers around 50-60. The Chest Forms are rare and difficult to find, however.

Ultimately, in order to evolve a Gimmighoul into a Gholdengo, players will want to make sure they don’t miss any opportunity to interact with either form of Gimmighoul in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in order to add coins to their stash. This new pocket monster makes a fun addition to the Pokédex and is a fantastic little collection quest for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to have added.
