Monica Barbaro and her father on screen in FUBAR they have perfected the art of lying to each other: both have worked as secret agents for the CIA for years without the other’s knowledge. “I’m of Mexican and Italian descent and it’s funny because if I just watched movies to learn about my history, I’m bound to kill a lot of people. Monica grew up with two older brothers, Eva and Michael. Her parents divorced when she was a child. Despite her love of acting, Monica devoted herself to ballet for most of her young life. She gave up dancing for acting after graduating from New York University. “Once I got out [of school] I was like, ‘OK, this is my time. Monica is still close to her parents. She said Glamor that she called her mother immediately after learning that she had booked her Top Gun: Maverick role. Monica said: “All hell was breaking loose. I was like, ‘Mom, I got the part and she’s not a love interest, she’s a pilot!’ We were both crying and she said, ‘I need to call the plumber.’”
