fans of The view have speculated about the retirement of moderator Whoopi Goldberg. But according to Goldberg, she’s not going anywhere just yet.
Goldberg, 67, who has starred on the talk show for 16 years, shared his thoughts on retirement and what he has planned for the future.
In an interview with The US SunGoldberg explained, “I haven’t done anything but retire. I’ve been retired my whole career, so I like that, yeah.”
She continued: “I have a contract. As long as I fulfill the contract, no one gets angry.”
Goldberg is known for taking Fridays off from work while her co-hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sara Haines take over.
“But I’ve been free on Fridays for years because when we normally did it, I would go to work and do shows or whatever because I could travel on Fridays.”
We love a good four-day work week too, Whoopi!
Could Julia Fox replace Whoopi Goldberg?
Recently, Julia Fox appeared on an episode of The view during one of Goldberg’s absences. While viewers of the show may have recognized Fox from her whirlwind relationship with Kanye West or her role in uncut gemsThe actress expressed wanting to enter a “new chapter” of life.
According to Fox, the next chapter he would like to pursue is a permanent spot on the talk show’s hosting panel.
After the actress entered the set, she asked the panel: “Are you hiring? “I really like it here.”
Goldberg’s secret side project
During Whoopi’s recent absence, Behar assumed her role as moderator.
At the beginning of the show, Behar explained, “Welcome to The View. As you can see, Whoopi is available today.”
The 81-year-old host kept Goldberg’s whereabouts a secret, but hinted: “She’s doing something really exciting. But I can’t tell you what she is.”
“But believe me, it’s good,” Behar concluded cryptically.
While Goldberg’s secret side project has yet to be revealed, we’re glad he doesn’t plan on leaving. The view whenever.
