Takeoff, one-third of the Migos rap trio, has died in Houston after being shot at a private party. Things were looking up for Takeoff (real name: Kirsnick Khari Ball) after the success of his solo album The Last Rocket and a collaborative album with Quavo dubbed Only built for Infinity Links.
“When you’re around Takeoff, there’s a sense of peace in his aura,” said Drew Findling, Takeoff’s attorney. The New York Times. “He listens to you, he looks at you, he is more focused on what you have to say than on what he has to say. The world was beginning to learn about Takeoff. It was his time to shine.”
Takeoff was linked to several women but never confirmed a relationship
Unlike his fellow Migos rappers Quavo and Offset, Takeoff was laid-back and maintained an almost non-existent public profile. Despite not being involved in the relationship and baby mama drama that has become a staple of hip-hop culture, Takeoff was a fan favorite.
Music Executive Pierre Thomas tweeted on May 20, 2022:: “The takeoff so undervalued. If he cared more about this rap game, he’d definitely be stepping on all you blacks, but unfortunately, he’s not wrong. It’s been that way ever since she met him. Nothing has changed with him.”
Takeoff never confirmed a relationship but was linked to several women. In 2017, he and Katy Perry reportedly began dating after Migos and the pop superstar collaborated on Enjoy and performed in Saturday night live.
Neither party addressed the rumors, but Takeoff hinted that he was single by captioning an Instagram photo, “Lonely.” A year later, he was linked to rapper Dreamdoll, who denied the rumors during an interview on Tradia with tea:
“That is not true [the Takeoff rumor]. I don’t even know where that came from. I woke up and I’m dating him.”
Later, unsubstantiated rumors claimed that Takeoff dated Rubi Rose, Lakeya Darshay, and Heather Rose. Takeoff was most recently linked to Liyah Jade; reports claim the couple separated in 2021.
