Dave Dahl was born on January 12, 1963 in the United States of America, in Portland, Oregon. When he was nine years old, he started working in the family bakery. His father, James A. Dahl, founded the family bakery in 1955. As a child, he argued with his father because he did not like working in the family bakery. Because of this, he started smoking cigarettes and using drugs as a teenager. In 1980, he left high school. Glenn is his brother’s name.

Career
When he was nine years old, he started working in the family bakery. Later, he had a fight with his father because he didn’t like working there and started smoking and using drugs.
In 1987, he was sentenced to prison for the first time for breaking into a house. He returned to his father’s business, the family bakery, in 1989 after accepting a job offer from Glenn (his brother), before quitting again and moving to Massachusetts. He spent more time in prison for armed robbery at this location. Later, in 1997, he was arrested again in Portland, Oregon.
Later in life, he was awarded a vocational training program (in computer-aided drafting and design) as well as an honorary addiction treatment program. He began teaching other inmates after excelling in this course. He was released from prison on December 27, 2004 and for the third time joined his brother in the family bakery business.
While working at the bakery, he and his brother came up with the idea for Dave’s Killer Bread, a loaf of bread with a cornmeal crust. After the success of the brand in the local market, more stores started selling the product. As of 2013, the company employed approximately 300 people at its headquarters in Milwaukee, Oregon. Flowers Foods acquired the company in August 2015 for approximately $275 million.
In 2016, Dave founded the organization Discover African Art. He opened a flagship showroom and boutique in Portland’s Pearl District for the organization in Clackamas, Oregon. In June 2017, the organization contributed grain shipments to a village in Mali.
Dave’s friend Harsh called the police in late 2013 and reported that he was having a mental crisis. When the officers arrived, he fought with them as they arrested him and sent three officers to the hospital. He was found guilty in October 2014 after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In January 2015, he was released on board supervision which included barring and driving bans.
