Chevy Chase was born on October 8, 1943 to Edward Tinsley book editor Ned Chase and Cathalena Parker. Chase’s mother was a pianist and the illegitimate daughter of artist and illustrator Edward Leigh Chase. Chevy was born and raised in New York. Chevy was exposed to art and music at a young age as a result of his mother’s genealogy. Chase spent his vacation in Ipswich, Massachusetts at Castle Hill. His parents divorced when he was four years old, and he stated in his biography that his mother and stepfather repeatedly abused him physically and mentally. Chase’s parents died in 2005.
