Barrett Carnahan’s career is flourishing, as is his private life. Over the better part of the last decade, Carnahan has racked up plenty of guest and minor appearances, seemingly setting him up for a future as an elite actor.

Carnahan met his wife, Nina, on a bus more than a decade ago. “Ten years ago I took a photo in the dark and sat next to you on a bus,” Carnahan wrote alongside a January 2021 photo of Nina. “One of my favorite things to do is close your eyes, vividly remember that moment, and then open them to look at this image. My favorite photo of you. It’s going to be hard to beat.”

The couple got engaged in mid-June 2018. Carnahan wrote on Instagram in late July 2018 that he was “engaged and happier than ever.” He cheekily added that Nina’s fashion choice made riding a bike with her extra special: “Nina’s black dress was billowing behind her in the wind at one point, and all I could think about was the final shot of The Dark Knight and it was special.” time for me.”
In 2019, rumors surfaced that Carnahan was dating Isabel May, his Alexa & Katie co-star. Reports claimed that Carnahan was prepared to end his engagement to Nina in order to have a relationship with May. However, the rumors were false.
The coronavirus pandemic delayed Carnahan and Nina’s June 2020 wedding. They eventually tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony attended by close friends and family. In his Instagram wedding announcement, Carnahan again referenced the first day he met Nina. “Ten years ago, I took a chance and sat next to you. Ten years later, I married you,” Carnahan wrote.
On June 17, 2021, Nina celebrated the couple’s wedding anniversary by posting photos of their wedding on Instagram. She said that she had no nervousness on the day of the wedding and wrote:
“I remember sitting in the bridal suite minutes before going to the ceremony. I remember everyone asking me if I was okay or nervous. But most of all, I remember not being nervous, not even a little bit because I knew I was exactly where she was supposed to be with who she was supposed to be with.”
Nina and Carnahan’s son, Henry, was born on July 19, 2022.
Nina announced that she was pregnant through a January 23 Instagram post with sonograms and due date. “Sweet baby, we don’t know you yet but you are already our everything. Composed and surrounded by a love that will always move mountains for you,” wrote Nina.
Henry arrived on July 20, 2022, five days before his due date. Since Henry’s arrival, photos of the baby have become ubiquitous on Nina’s Instagram page. “Cherishing every moment,” Nina captioned a photo from late April 2023 of Henry’s tiny hands wrapped around his parents’ index fingers.
Henry’s presence probably eased the pain caused by the death of Lilly, Nina’s dog. In an emotional post on March 12, 2023, Nina wrote that Lilly, her trusted companion of 13 years, had passed away several days earlier. Nina said that Lilly illuminated her life with a loving light. She continued:
“I never wanted to imagine what my life would be like without you and I am still struggling so hard to accept that my life has to go on without you, but I am so glad that I can love you for all that you are. I desperately hope to see you soon in my dreams. I love you and miss you so much it hurts.”
“Happy 13th birthday my sweet girl. More than anything I wish I could spend it with you, but I hope that wherever you are, you spend it rolling on the grass, sunbathing and enjoying endless toys and bones. I love you so much Lilly,” Nina wrote in a subsequent post.
