Adam Kinzinger’s time as US Representative for Illinois’ 16th congressional district will be ending soon, but it looks like Kinzinger’s political career will continue for a while longer. In 2021, Kinzinger did what many in his Republican party dared not: He criticized former President Donald Trump and voted to create a committee to investigate the 2021 attack on the Capitol.
Kinzinger appears to have been in the forefront as the GOP shows signs of moving away from its controversial de facto leader. Adam’s two-year head start puts him in prime position to lead the party’s seemingly inescapable post-Trump era.
Adam married Sofia Boza-Holman weeks before COVID-19 struck
Adam and Sofia Boza-Holman began dating sometime in 2018. Sofia accepted Adam’s wedding proposal in June 2019. “She said yes!” Kinzinger captioned the announcement post.
Kinzinger was previously engaged to fellow Air Force Captain Riki Meyers, but the couple failed to make it down the aisle. Adam was lucky for the second time, as he married Sofia Boza-Holman on February 15, 2020 at the Capuchin Convent in Guatemala.
Pastor Nate Ferguson oversaw the nuptials as close family and friends watched. Adam issued the following statement:
“It’s official: I am a very lucky man to now have such an incredible woman as my wife. Sofia and I are incredibly blessed to have had the love and support of so many over the past week, and we know that God was at the center of it all.”
Weeks later, the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down. Adam revealed via Twitter that he had the perfect quarantine partner: his wife, Boza-Holman. “I am a very lucky man. Greetings to my wife!” Kinzinger wrote.
Two weeks before the couple’s anniversary, Adam congratulated Sofia via Instagram, calling their first year of marriage the best of his life. “Happy Anniversary,” Adam captioned a wedding post on February 15, 2021.
Kinzinger, Sofia and their son received death threats in June 2022
In July 2021, Adam announced via Instagram that the couple’s first child would be ‘landing’ in January 2022. “Ladies and gentlemen, we present Christian Adam Kinzinger,” Adam wrote on January 20, 2022. “He and mom are healthy and I’m happy. !”
You can keep track of Christian’s growth through Adam’s Instagram page, which contains many cute photos of the boy.
In June 2022, a threatening letter addressed to Sofía arrived at the family home. Kinzinger posted a photo on Twitter of the note; read in part:
Although it may take time, he [Adam] will be executed. But do not worry! You and Christian will also join Adam in hell! It seems to us blasphemy that you call the son of the devil a Christian!
The strongly worded correspondence accused Adam of selling his soul and that of his family. adam said to BC that the message heralded future violence that would only be avoided if people accepted the truth. He explained:
“Now that I have a wife and children, of course, it’s a little different. There is violence in the future, I’ll tell you. And until we can tell people the truth, we can’t expect anything different.”
