News about Mila Davis-Kent

Mila Davis-Kent has joined the cast of the highly anticipated Creed III. As Amara Creed, daughter of Adonis Creed in the film, Davis-Kent, a deaf actress, acts as a spokesperson for the deaf community.

Michael B. Jordan and the cast of the newly released blockbuster Creed III are holding press conferences around the world to whet the audience’s appetite for the latest installment in the series.

Michael B. Jordan commented that Davis-Kent’s energy prompted the team to reveal something beautiful at the Creed III press conference in Atlanta, Georgia. One key concept that both actors hope the deaf community will take away from the film is representation.

According to the National Center for the Deaf, social prejudice is a major cause of barriers for people with hearing impairments. Their daily lives are affected by stereotypes such as low expectations and respect for the deaf.

According to Davis-Kent, black deaf people can watch this movie and realize they can be anything, who said the opposite has been proven. It covers if we are part of it. We want deaf people to see this film and realize that they can achieve this. This film will help others understand that deaf people are just like them.

“Mila and her family have taught me so much. Every time I look at her, I feel so blessed,” Jordan said with appreciation. Jordan says he has a personal connection to the series.

Jordan directed the final film of the trilogy, and compared to the first two, Creed III reveals a different side of Adonis Creed. He is currently the husband of a black woman with a hearing loss and the father of a deaf girl who mainly speaks ASL.

Adonis Creed’s character, DéNajah Johnson, a third-year biology student at Florida State University of Agriculture and Engineering, has a similar experience. Like Amara Creed, Johnson grew up with a father who was deaf, which forced her to incorporate ASL into her daily life. She said her heart skipped a beat because of this movie.

“When I see a deaf/hard of hearing black person on the big screen, my heart beats like a deaf child. This is one of those times when I want to scream “Yes!” Johnson added. “Although we still have a long way to go, society is on the right track when it comes to the inclusion of black people with hearing loss/deafness,” she enthused.

Creed III made history as the first sports movie to gross more than $100 million at the box office. Also, it outsells the recently released Scream 5.
