Kelly Middaugh grew up in a household that was heavily involved in sports. Curling is in her blood because both of her parents achieved enormous success in that sport. Her father, Wayne, has an incredible record as a three-time world champion, something no one else has accomplished, having won the championship at three separate positions.
Her mother, Sherry Middaugh, also made her mark in curling. She won five Ontario championships and one Saskatchewan championship. Kelly, born August 2, 1999 in Victoria Harbour, Ontario, Canada, is now the leader of the Laurie St-Georges Algonquin College team. Her curling career began at the age of ten when she reluctantly joined a Sunday youth curling league. Despite her initial reservations, she persisted with it for three to four years.
Kelly went to Wilfrid Laurier University and excelled in curling. had great success while representing the Golden Hawks, finishing sixth at the U Sports tournament and being named a first-team All-Canadian. Kelly attended Wilfrid Laurier University and competed in two U Sports/Curling Canada collegiate curling championships. In addition to curling, Kelly earned an undergraduate degree in global studies from Wilfrid Laurier University before enrolling at Algonquin College.

Kelly was raised in an athletic household. Kelly’s parents, Wayne and Sherry, also curled, and her younger sister, Emily, curled with the rest of the family. Her mother, Sherry Middaugh, is a curler from Victoria Harbour, Ontario. She had a lot of success in curling. She won five Ontario championships and one Saskatchewan championship. Middaugh, a native of Saskatchewan, won the 1986 Saskatchewan Junior Women’s Championship and represented the province at the 1986 Canadian Junior Women’s Curling Championship, where she tied for fourth with a 6-4 record. The team is currently coached by Hollie Duncan.
In addition to curling, Middaugh is a businesswoman who runs her own company, 4M Home & Garden. She is married to fellow curler Wayne Middaugh, who has won the Canadian Men’s Curling Championship (Brier) in three separate places: vault (1998), third (2012) and second (1993). Robert Wayne Middaugh, born September 20, 1967 in Brampton, Ontario, now lives with Sherry in Victoria Harbour, Ontario. He is the General Manager of Port Carling Golf & Country Club and a PGA of Canada Golf Professional.

Kelly’s sister Emily, who is 20 years old and four years younger than Kelly, excitedly took up curling, following the family tradition. She is a member of the Ontario U21 national team, which just won the Junior Curling Cup. Over the holidays, she also finished second with the Grace Cave team at the Canada Junior Cup, earning a curling trip to Switzerland.
Emily experimented with various sports before settling on curling. However, the friendly and welcoming attitude of the curling community eventually drew her in, making it impossible not to continue the family tradition.
