Jeremiah Fennell is the 10-year-old reporter who went viral for interviewing Raiders wide receiver Devante Adams. Armed with statistics and the poise of a seasoned journalist, Fennell unflinchingly interviewed the NFL star. The Raiders uploaded the video to Twitter, making Fennell an instant internet star.
Several weeks later, Fennell asked Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson about his first touchdown, describing the play as if he were watching it live. Jefferson responded exactly as most people watching Fennell’s videos have: “Whose son is this? As [is] Likes this?
“He was born that way,” replied his mother, Lorraine Golden.
Fennell almost lost his mother after she became seriously ill
When Fennell was four years old, his parents informed him that he could not play contact sports due to a detached shoulder bone and a rare brain abnormality. The openness helped Fennell accept reality and find another way to stay involved in sports: journalism.

Fennell fell in love with the Raiders after they appeared at the first NFL game he saw. Lorraine turned down Fennell’s initial request to create a YouTube channel about the Raiders because they were based in California, too far from the family’s Las Vegas home.
Fennell kept trying, and more importantly, he did well in school. After the Raiders returned to Las Vegas, Lorraine allowed Fennell to create the YouTube channel. fennell said The Jennifer Hudson Show:
“That’s where it started, but what really motivates me is that I wanted to make my parents proud at a young age because my mom has a lot of health problems and my dad is an elderly person.”
Unspecified health problems nearly killed Lorraine when Fennell was five years old. Fennell told Jennifer Hudson that he alerted her grandmother that Lorraine was in danger. He said that Lorraine would have died without decisive action from her grandmother.
“They said if he had been there a minute later, he would have died,” Fennell said. “For a month I didn’t see my mom because she was in ICU, and those were the worst 30 days of my life. I had a long talk with God and I said, ‘If you can bring my mom back, she would be the best son she could be.’
The Raiders awarded Fennell a Super Bowl ticket and a bag full of Raiders merchandise. “When they broke the first groundbreaking at Allegiant Stadium, he [Fennell] told me, ‘I’m going to work there,'” said Golden The Las Vegas Review Journal.
Despite his apparent admiration for the stars he interviews, Fennell insists he’s not impressed. After interviewing Davante Adams, Fennell said foxnews:
“I wasn’t dazzled or anything. She was there talking to him like a normal reporter, you know? So he wasn’t really scared, because in the end, we’re all people.”
