Cade McNamara has lucky parents who regularly attend his games and cheer him on from the stands. Cade’s father, a former baseball player, wanted his son to follow in his footsteps, but he didn’t push him when he chose football. Cade McNamara began his football career in 2015 at Damonte Ranch High School.
McNamara set Nevada school football records with 12,804 passing yards and 146 touchdown passes during his four years at Damonte. His exceptional play earned him Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year honors in both 2017 and 2018. McNamara was committed to the University of Notre Dame before transferring to the University of Michigan. The quarterback played 21 games for the Wolverines before moving on to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Unfortunately, his 2023 season was cut short by a season-ending knee injury.

Despite Gary’s considerable baseball experience, he admitted that he had little understanding of football and was the first to push Cade to follow in his baseball footsteps. Cade began his sports career in baseball, where he excelled as an infielder and pitcher. Cade focused on football after his freshman year of high school, a choice heavily influenced by his father.
“Brutal,” Gary described it. “After that season, I stopped training.”

Nicole, the pillar of the McNamara family, also brought her athletic skills, playing varsity basketball. Nicole emphasized the sacrifices her children have willingly made for their art, recognizing the dedication required to thrive in athletics. He recalls missing prom because of skills camps, stressing that their dedication came not from strict parental instructions, but from their inherent desire to succeed in football. This dedication to their enthusiasm continues to be a driving concept in the McNamara home.
