Marla Maples did not attend Ivana Trump’s farewell in mid-July 2022, but her daughter, Tiffany, along with her fiancé Michael Boulos did. Maples and Ivana were polar opposites in terms of education and ambitions, but they shared a common thread: They both married former President Donald J. Trump, and both unions ended in divorce.
Maples’ fame peaked in the 1990s during her relatively brief union with Trump. In Ivana’s eyes, Trump’s affair with Marla led to the end of his marriage to the former president. Marla’s marriage to Trump ended after reports that she cheated on him with her bodyguard.
Marla faded into obscurity after the 1999 divorce. This piece looks at Marla Maples now.

“Without a doubt, her greatest joy is what she calls her most important role in life, being the mother of her daughter Tiffany,” Maples writes on her website.
After their 1999 divorce, Maples moved to California to get Tiffany out of the spotlight. She appeared in various productions over the next decade and a half, but rarely caught the attention of the media.
Marla’s marriage to Donald Trump seemed doomed from the start, as Trump forced her to sign a somewhat oppressive prenuptial agreement. Donald paid Ivana $14 million, gave her his Greenwich estate, and agreed to pay $650,000 a year in child support for her, not wanting to offer such riches to Marla when they inevitably divorced her.
Maples’s marriage to Donald was a union of convenience. Donald had to propose to Marla because her conservative parents were opposed to raising a child out of wedlock. Trump also wanted to give the impression that he had a stable personal life in order to attract investors and save his failing casinos.
Trump had it easy as Maples desperately wanted to marry him. According to Vanity Fair, she wore a wedding dress during her trips in case Trump decided to marry her on the spur of the moment.
The unfavorable terms of the prenuptial agreement showed that Trump did not care much for Maples. Raoul Felder, a divorce attorney, said vanity fair:
“A prenuptial agreement removes the romance from the relationship. It is a prior agreement regarding the provision of money, goods, payments. Basically, you plan the divorce before you get married.”
Marla walked away with $2 million, with $1 million set aside to buy a house. Trump also agreed to pay $100,000 in child support until Tiffany’s 21st birthday. The former president stipulated that the payments would stop if Tiffany enlisted in the military, she joined the Peace Corps or got a full-time job.
The prenup also prevented her from posting anything about the marriage. A source told the outlet that in 2016, Marla considered writing a memoir detailing the marriage. However, a meeting with Donald and Ivanka nipped those ambitions in the bud.
“She was actually set up twice,” a source said. vanity fair. “They got me not to write the book.”
Marla claimed that she wanted to repair bridges with Ivana but never got the chance.
Maybe Marla would have attended Ivana’s funeral if Ivana had agreed to repair bridges. Ivana made no secret of her contempt for Marla, the person she blamed for the ruin of her marriage. Ivana wrote in her memoirs that a confrontation with Marla signaled her upcoming divorce:
“This young blonde woman came up to me out of nowhere and said, ‘I’m Marla and I love your husband. You?’ I told him, ‘Get lost.’ I love my husband.'”
In 2016, Marla told him People she hated the animosity between her and Ivana. Maples said that she harbored no hate towards Ivana despite the latter saying that she never forgave Marla for having an affair with Trump. Marla said:
“It makes me sad because I wish her nothing but love and I never meant to hurt her. So, it was sad to hear that. Wish you all the best. I really do, and I hope that if she has any kind of grudge against me, I really hope, for her sake, that she can forgive me and just love her life.”
Ivana didn’t care much for Marla’s attempt at reconciliation, saying during her 2017 book tour: “I’m not talking about her. She’s a showgirl. She never achieved anything in her life.”
marla told him People which fostered a good relationship between Tiffany and Marla’s children. “I never let her think of them as her half-sister or her half-brother,” Maples said. “This is your family.”
