In his new special Look to you, Taylor Tomlinson assures the audience that they can laugh at the jokes about the death of their mother. Few would joke about a father’s death in front of his friends, let alone on the set of a Netflix special. Yet for six minutes, Taylor elicits laughs with carefully crafted jokes about a tragedy that marked her life.
If it were up to Taylor’s dad, she’d be a comedian, but her jokes wouldn’t revolve around her sex life or mental illness. Tomlinson is confident that her father, who probably hasn’t seen the riveting special, would disapprove.
Taylor’s comedy career began after he enrolled in church comedy classes alongside his father.
Taylor Tomlinson was born on November 4, 1993 in Orange County, California. She grew up with three younger sisters in a devout Christian family.
Tomlinson was sixteen when her father introduced her to comedy through a comedy class at church. Taylor’s father gave up on comedy when she made it her career. “So we did that and he went back to making money at a real job and I decided to become a comedian and drop out of college, so, you know, a very strange story,” Tomlinson said.
