Dakota Kai’s journey to WWE began on NXT, then Raw, and now he’s heading to SmackDown. Kai has become a fan favorite ever since she teamed up with Iyo Sky and Bayley to form Damage CTRL. The villainous group tore the opposition apart on Raw and will look to continue her dominating run on SmackDown.

Kai said wwe.com that their mother made sure the children embraced their Samoan culture. “Mom would make sure that we kids grew up with a strong sense of who we are and where we came from,” Kai said.
Kai debuted in NXT as Evie, the name of his favorite Pokémon. After signing a contract with WWE, she changed her name to Dakota Kai to reflect her Samoan culture.

Before Kai’s match at WrestleMania 39, fellow wrestler Tamina Snuka, of Samoan and Fijian descent, presented Kai with a lei made of flowers. Leis figure prominently in Polynesian cultures. “Samoan tradition right here. That is power,” Tamina said as she placed the lei on Kai’s shoulders.
