In the race to develop the best AI chatbot, Apple is pretty quiet. But a recent report suggests the company is working on its own chatbot which its engineers call ‘Apple GPT’.
Apple GPT is said to be similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. It was developed by Apple’s AI team.
Apple’s entry into the chatbot race is a big step forward. This could lead to serious competition for OpenAI, Google and Microsoft, which are currently market leaders.

A new development in Apple’s artificial intelligence field was first revealed by Bloomberg and stated, “Apple Inc. is quietly working on artificial intelligence tools that could challenge those of OpenAI Inc., Alphabet Inc. Google and others, but the company has yet to come up with a clear strategy to bring the technology to consumers.”
Apple’s new AI chatbot is said to be built on a framework called Ajax, which is designed to generate large language models.
The big language model is an AI-based system that can generate text, translate languages, write different types of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way.
Bloomberg reports that the project is being led by John Giannandrea, head of machine learning and artificial intelligence at Apple, and Craig Federighi, Apple’s top software engineer.
Apple is still developing the new Apple GPT. Once released, Apple GPT can be used for a variety of tasks, such as providing customer support, creating creative content, and helping users learn new things.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Apple CEO Tim Cook said general artificial intelligence is something Apple is “watching closely”. He also expressed concern about the new wave of AI services coming to market.
The company currently has no plans to bring this AI model to consumers. Bloomberg stated, “Apple employees say the company’s tool essentially replicates Bard, ChatGPT, and Bing AI and doesn’t include any new features or technologies. The system is available as a web application and has a stripped-down design that is not intended for public use.”
“So Apple currently has no plans to release it to consumers, although it is actively working to improve its core models,” it added.
In short, Apple GPT has the potential to be a powerful tool. It’s important to remember that the chatbot is still in development, and it’s still unclear how Apple or users will use it.
