What is Angus Cloud’s ethnicity? The Euphoria star’s Irish roots

Angus Cloud’s sudden death has sent shockwaves through the Euphoria fanbase. Seemingly out of the blue, Cloud’s family released a statement confirming that Cloud died on 31st July 2023. “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” Cloud’s family said. “As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.”

Angus Cloud’s family hailed from Ireland, where he almost relocated to before becoming a famous actor

Angus Cloud was born on 10th July 1998 to an Irish family in Oakland, California. He grew up alongside younger twin sisters, Molly and Fiona Hickey.

Conor Hickey, Cloud’s father, played rugby for Ashbourne RFC in Ireland, leading the team to O’Connell Cup glory in 1979. He moved to California in the 80s, settling with his wife, Lisa Cloud Mclaughlin, and starting a family. Conor and Lisa were university professors.

Cloud told The Wall Street Journal in 2019 that he almost relocated to Ireland before landing his role in Euphoria. “I was gonna move to Ireland for a while,” Cloud said. “All my family lives out there.” Cloud altered his plans after a casting agent approached him in New York and asked him to audition for Euphoria.

The actor’s revelation made sense to fans, who claimed his appearance matched his ethnicity. “I don’t watch Euphoria but idk how people didn’t realise that the actor who plays Fez is clearly very obviously Irish,” a fan tweeted (per JOE).

Cloud eventually returned to Ireland to bury Conor, who died after a short battle with cancer, in his ancestral land. “Miss you breh,” Cloud captioned an Instagram photo of his father shortly after his passing. The statement by Cloud’s family revealed that Cloud struggled to deal with the loss. It read:

“Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”
