Pawan Ahluwalia is an Indian investment manager who is the founder and managing director of India-based investment manager Laburnum Capital. He is the son of Montek Singh Ahluwalia, an Indian economist and former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India.

Pawan Ahluwalia was born on Tuesday, 15 November 1977 (age 45 years; as in 2022) in Washington, DC, United States. Their zodiac sign is Scorpio. His mother, Isher Judge Ahluwalia, was an Indian economist and public policy researcher. Professor. Isher Ahluwalia died on 26 September 2020 after a 10-month battle with brain cancer. Pawan has a younger brother, Aman Ahluwalia, who is a lawyer.

Pawan Ahluwalia started his career in August 1999 as a consultant in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, District of Columbia, United States. While working there, he wrote the paper “Contagion” modeling in currency markets. He worked there for about 8 months and resigned from his position in the firm. In October 2000, he joined McKinsey & Company in New York as a business analyst. As a part of his job duties, Pawan advised management teams in New York and Mumbai on corporate strategy. He worked in the company for about two years. Pawan started working as an associate at Old Lane Partners in New York, United States in September 2006. At the firm, he covered India and parts of non-Japan Asia for a $5 billion hedge fund. On 19 August 2009, Pawan established Laburnum Capital Advisors Pvt Ltd, an investment management firm in Delhi. He is also the managing director of the firm.
Pawan also holds the position of Director in Affordable Quality Health, a Hyderabad-based non-profit company and Quality Healthcare Access Pvt Ltd, a Delhi-based NGO.
