Darryle ‘Hamlinz’ Hamlin and Daequan Loco are two of the most popular online gamers in the world. The two became famous for posting Fortnite gaming content on YouTube and Twitch. They joined esports under the TSM banner and cemented their status as two of the best Fortnite players.
Hamlinz currently has 1.31 million subscribers on Youtube while Daequan has 5.33 million subscribers. The duo entertain large audiences, but risk losing subscribers if they don’t repost regularly.
This article will look at the disappearance of Daequan and Hamlin from online platforms.
Hamlinz and Daequan posted their last YouTube videos in February and March 2020, respectively.
Hamlinz uploaded the latest video to his YouTube page in February 2020. He seemed to be in good spirits after picking up his first solo Fortnite win in a long time. However, he didn’t post after that, and he was pretty inconsistent on Twitch as well. Hamlinz published the last tweet on his page on June 30, 2020.
Daequan posted his last video on YouTube on March 18, 2020. He uploaded the last tweet on his page a couple of days later. Daequan’s sudden disappearance from social media shocked fans when she said that she would start posting consistently after moving into his new house in early March 2020. She posted on following tweet from March 2, 2020:
“Prolly moving into my new house this week, doing renovations, Exie is getting more healthcare in another county, so I run both businesses. Prepare YouTube again, buy furniture, etc. Consistency starts when I move.”
It’s unclear when the two players will return, but their fans shouldn’t despair as this isn’t the first time Hamlinz and Daequan have taken a break from gaming.
Hamlinz took a break from publishing in 2019 after her grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
After a two-month hiatus from the game in mid-2019, Hamlinz posted a video on YouTube in October announcing his return. He explained that he left the games arena to deal with the emotional trauma caused by his grandmother’s cancer diagnosis. Hamlinz said the diagnosis made him realize he was not over the passing of his grandfather. He said:
“Once she got breast cancer, it really screwed me over, dude, because it made me realize that I wasn’t really over my grandfather. She couldn’t legitimately say his name or think his name without crying. It was that bad. So I needed some time alone to revive myself, collect my thoughts, compose myself. Because I had never lost anyone close. That was the first time I lost someone close to me.”
Fortunately, Hamlinz added that his grandmother was doing well after the surgery. His fans understood why, in the world of online gaming, hosts are expected to be happy and excited, but Hamlinz couldn’t display those emotions as he dealt with his grandmother’s illness.
We don’t know why Hamlinz took the time this time, but we hope his grandmother is still okay.
Daequan left social media to deal with his mental and physical health.
In mid to late 2019, Daequan’s posts on YouTube and Twitch became quite irregular. In September 2019, he opened up and told fans that he had been dealing with numerous physical and mental issues. He had back problems as a result of playing his high school basketball games and sitting in a gaming chair for 16 hours a day for eight months. “She had been sick for six years. Stomach ache, nausea, blurred vision, fatigue, etc., from 19 to 25 years old.
Daequan also suffered mentally after the death of his grandmothers, aunts, and friends. “Two of my other friends died from gun violence that we had all escaped before,” Daequan said. “That really struck me. This time I wasn’t there, but last time we were all together. I know how it feels to be in that kind of situation.” His editor and girlfriend Exie also got sick.
Loco added that he tried to block it by diving into Fortnite, but it ultimately took a toll on his mental health. “It’s like I’ve skipped the whole duel entirely. I never cried,” Daequan stated. “I’m the type of person that if she’s really focused on something, she doesn’t stop until he gets it, to the point where he could literally become unhealthy.”
Daequan gradually returned to gaming, and in December, released a statement via TwitLonger expressing his desire to return to his full schedule in 2020. However, he seems to be facing some issues as he hasn’t posted since March 2020. We hope that Daequan returns stronger than ever.
