After playing with Metallurg Magnitogorsk during his first full season in the KHL in 2014-15, Kamenev decided to follow his dream of playing in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Additionally, on July 10, 2015, he signed an initial three-year contract with the Nashville Predators.
On January 6, Kamenev made his NHL debut against the Florida Panthers after the Predators recalled him from the Milwaukee Admirals.
In addition, he has competed for Russia in several international competitions. Some of them are the 2013 World U17 Hockey Challenge, hosted by Yarmouth, when the team took home the silver medal.
The Russian team placed fourth at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. At the 2014 IIHF World U18 Championship, the Russian team finished sixth.
