VJ Sunny is a South Indian actor and video jockey. He gained immense popularity with the role of Suryadevara Jai Surya in the Telugu TV serial ‘Kalyana Vaibhogam’ (2017). He is also known for winning the Bog Boss Telugu 5 trophy.

VJ Sunny, real name Arun Reddy, was born on Thursday, 17 August 1989 (age 32 years; as in 2021) in Khammam, Telangana. His zodiac sign is Leo. He did his schooling from St. Mary’s College, Yousafguda, Hyderabad. Later, he studied B.Com from Osmania University, Hyderabad, Telangana.

Since childhood, he was inclined towards acting and he wanted to act in films. Later, he joined a theater group in Hyderabad and acted in various theater plays. His performance in the theater play ‘Alauddin’ was highly appreciated by the audience. He then started working as a host with the TV show ‘Just for Men’ and later, he worked as a lifestyle journalist and interviewed many famous personalities. Talking about this in an interview he said,
Even when I was a journalist and giving interviews, I always wondered what it would be like to be on the other side of the camera – it was always my dream to be an actor. As a journalist, I did my work for the society and now as an actor, I want to entertain people. When I was interviewing celebrities, I always had this dream of acting. I am a theater student and I love drama and acting. Although I started my career as a journalist, I always wanted to pursue acting.
In 2017, he was selected to play the lead role in the Telugu TV serial Kalyana Vaibhogam opposite Meghna Lokesh.
In 2018, he participated in the TV dance reality show ‘Dance Jodi Dance’ with Sanyukta. In 2021, he was cast as the lead actor in the Telugu film ‘Sakala Gunabhi Ram’.

- In an interview, he told that when he was a teenager, he named himself ‘Sunny’ after his favorite bike. he adds,
It was a secret I didn’t want to reveal. I wanted people to know me only as Sunny and not as Arun Reddy. Since childhood, I wanted my screen name to be Sunny because I had a bike, which I named ‘Sunny’ and people used to call me Sunny and that is how I chose my screen name.

My mother always wanted to be an actress; However, she could not fulfill her dream because no one encouraged her when she was young. She supported my decision and I am proud to say that my mother Kalavati is the reason why I took up acting.”

There is no truth in these speculations. I still have a very good rapport with the Kalyan Vaibhogam team and the channel. I got a clean and amicable exit. It was a great experience working with a team that loved me very much, appreciated my work and encouraged me all the time. I want to move ahead gracefully with the same support and best wishes.”
