Vitalik Buterin began writing for a publication, Bitcoin Weekly, in 2011. It was after meeting a person on a Bitcoin forum with the goal of earning Bitcoin. He continued writing for the site until it closed shortly after due to insufficient income.

He then began writing for a new print publication called Bitcoin Magazine. It was the position Buterin would accept as the first co-founder and to which he would contribute as a featured writer. And in 2012, Bitcoin Magazine began publishing a print edition and is known as the first serious publication dedicated to cryptocurrencies.
