Vinay Fort was born on Thursday, 13 January 1983 (age 40 years; as in 2023) in Fort Kochi, Kerala, India. Their zodiac sign is Capricorn. He was born as Vinay Kumar, but later changed his name to Vinay Fort to pay tribute to his birthplace. He studied at St. John de Brito Anglo-Indian High School, Fort Kochi. He earned a degree in acting from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, India.

Before entering the film industry, Vinay Forte did several small jobs at places like a restaurant, a coffee shop, a medical shop and a call centre. During his first year in college, he joined Lokdharmi Theater and became an active artist there. In 2004, he received the National Scholarship from the Government of India for Best Senior Theater Actor, which continued till 2006. During her post-graduation at FTII, Pune, she came to know him during a conversation during an audition for Shyama Prasad’s film, Ritu. FTII Aspirants. Later, he auditioned and was selected to play the role of Jamal, a homosexual, in the film Ritu. In 2011, she starred opposite Naseeruddin Shah in the Indo-Canadian thriller film ‘The Blueberry Hunt’, which was released in India after 5 years i.e. in 2016.
In 2012, he appeared in one of the lead roles in the Malayalam film Navagatharakku Swagatam, however, the film did not perform well at the box office. The same year, he played the role of Nanmayil Suran in the Malayalam thriller film Shutter. The film proved successful and was screened at the 9th Dubai International Film Festival and the 17th Kerala International Film Festival.
In 2014, he played the notable role of Shaan Shahar in the film 7th Day. In 2015, he got his breakthrough with the film Premam, in which he played the role of Vimal Sir. He gained instant popularity in the film with his brilliant comic timing and unique dialogue delivery style, so much so that some of his dialogues such as ‘Java Simple Aanu.. Pinne Powerful.. Powerfullumanu’ developed a popular cult following.
In 2015, he played the lead role in the comedy thriller film Urumbukal Urangarilla. He has appeared in Kohinoor (2015), Karma Cartel (2015), Rasputin (2015), Urumbukal Urangarila (2015), Kammatti Padam (2016), Hello Namaste (2016), Kismat (2016), Georgetown’s Pooram (2017), Role Models (2017) ) and God Se (2017). In 2019, she played the lead role of a Malayalam teacher who suffers from hair thinning in the film ‘Thamasha’, which won her critical acclaim and some critics described it as one of her best performances.
