After the coronavirus lockdown was lifted in India, Vijay moved to Mumbai to work at Tata Pipes Company. According to his family, he was not happy with his job there and returned to his village in May 2023. After this he started looking for a job in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

kidnapping of a teenage girl
Vijay’s father Sama Yadav had a sweet shop in Devgaon, Azamgarh. Vijay often used to go to the shop and help. One day, while he was at the shop, he met a teenage girl. They initially became friends and soon started developing feelings for each other. On 10 July 2016, Vijay and Kishori decided to run away from their house. Vijay’s family came to know about it on 25 July 2016 when their neighbors told them that the shutter of their sweet shop had been closed for a few days. Since Vijay’s family was busy with his elder brother’s wedding, they assumed that Vijay was taking care of the shop. However, when they reached the shop they found that Vijay was missing. The girl’s family had already filed a complaint against Vijay at Devgaon police station in Azamgarh under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Later Vijay was arrested and sent to jail. However, the case was settled out of court with the participation of the girl’s family.

Another case was registered against him during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. A case has been registered against him at Kerakat Kotwali, Jaunpur under the Epidemic Act for violating Covid-19 guidelines.
Sanjeev Jeeva Shootout
On 7 June 2023, Indian gangster Sanjeev Jeeva, a close associate of Indian politician and gangster Mukhtar Ansari, was shot dead by unknown assailants inside the SC/ST Court in Lucknow. The attackers were dressed as lawyers.

Two police constables during the attack; Kamlesh and Lal Mohammed, a six-year-old girl and an 18-month-old boy were also injured. Later, during investigation, the local police came to know that one of the attackers was Vijay Yadav, who had entered the court room with Sanjeev. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Vijay quickly took out a revolver hidden inside his coat and shot Jeeva from behind. Vijay’s attack was precise, leaving Jeeva no time to react and resulting in his instant death. After the attack, Vijay tried to run out of the courtroom, but the lawyers present there caught him and started beating him. The police had to struggle a lot to save Vijay from the violent situation. Vijay was taken into police custody immediately after the attack.

- On 10 May 2023, Vijay returned to his village from Mumbai to attend his cousin’s wedding. On May 11, 2023, he went to Lucknow in search of work and then called his father Sama Yadav and told him that he had got a job in a water pipeline installation company. Vijay said that he will work in Lucknow. After this he did not contact his family.
- While talking to the media after Vijay’s arrest in June 2023, his mother told that on May 15, when she was at her parents’ house, she had received a call from Vijay. After this his mobile phone got switched off. He was not of criminal nature. The very idea of such an incident is horrifying. He further said that he used to earn good money in Mumbai. He also used to send money for household expenses, but ever since he went to Lucknow, he has not sent even a single rupee.

When we asked the father what he said, he told us that Vijay had returned home in March. He told everyone at home that he was earning less money in Mumbai. He was not getting his salary on time. So he was going to Lucknow in search of work. After that, he went to Lucknow on 22 March. Vijay told us that he was working there for a company laying water pipelines.
