Vietnamese Girl Group DREAMeR Is Accused Of Plagiarizing BLACKPINK’s Comeback Teasers

DREAMeR, a new Vietnamese girl group, is accused of stealing BLACKPINK’s BORN PINK idea. On September 14, 2022, a fan on Twitter noticed a similarity between the introduction of DREAMeR members and singer PINK VENOM’s comeback date and album concept. Fans asked YG Entertainment to prosecute them for plagiarism after the post went viral on social media.

The two new members’ DREAMeR opening teaser design is very similar to the concept of the current K-pop group. MiiNa and Bo Uyen, the third and fourth members of the debut group, were announced on April 12 and September 14, 2022, respectively. Furthermore, their comeback planning poster is similar to the teaser announcing BLACKPINK’s global tour.

Apparently a group called DREAMeR in Vietnam is plagiarizing BLACKPINK, LISA and even they have copied ROSÉ in the past, I think we should email YGE about this. pic.twitter.com/8Ihv9u1Mbu

Fans are looking for a new Vietnamese girl group that blatantly copies the concept design of BLACKPINK BORN PINK.

A new Vietnamese girl group is being formed, but they’ve caused a stir for the wrong reasons. Even before their debut, DREAMeR members Ph Phong Anh, RIN9 and MiiNa were caught in a plagiarism scandal. Dreamer Entertainment, the group’s management company, has been criticized by BLINK fans for stealing BLACKPINK’s comeback photos. The dread of the makeup, the design, the colors, the attitude, the placement, and the text makes it impossible for it to be anything more than a pure copy-paste concept.

The three photos are considered controversial. The first is Mia’s introduction, published April 12. Rose’s concept photo “On the Ground” is compared to the female singer. Purple outfits, close-ups, flowers, lighting, and attitudes that resemble photos of K-pop idols. On September 13, another photo was shared, which is said to be a copy of their comeback schedule. The poster announcing BORN PINK’s global tour, with two pink lightning bolts at the top and pink lettering on a black snakeskin background, is unsettlingly similar.

The poster for the K-pop girl group includes pink fangs above and below, as well as pink lettering on a background that turns black and pink. It was posted on August 8. The most recent photo of an identical copy is the opening image of Bo Uyen, posted on September 14. The image is reminiscent of Lisa’s PINK VENOM teaser concept. The broken glasses, pastel pink outfit, hairstyle, long nails and pose are all reminiscent of BLACKPINK’s teaser.

Netizens dug deeper after seeing Bo Uyen’s concept teaser and discovered many photos that appear to be taken directly from the designs of singer PINK VENOM. The plagiarism controversy has divided fans. Half of the fans thought it was a marketing ploy to reach a larger audience as the images uncanny resembled one of the most popular K-pop girl group ideas. They also advise individuals to block or ignore the issue.

Another section of fans used the vomiting emoji to flood the group’s Vietnamese Instagram posts. They also pointed to YG Entertainment and BLACKPINK by name, seeking legal action from management companies. Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will return with BORN PINK on Friday, September 16, 2022.
