She states, “I just want to express myself. “For me, music is a release. I grew up without any siblings. As a result, it was always there to share experiences with me and to recount some of them. So regardless of whether it’s trendy or top 40 radio, I’ve always tried to be genuine and express what I actually mean.

I believe that I have accomplished that with this effort. The tracklist, the features, the team members, and the production quality all make me very proud. Now that it’s out of my control, I’m curious to know how people will react.

Victoria Monet Career

Monét discovered a new love when she started exchanging poetry with an older cousin outside of dance rehearsals. She immediately started writing her own songs as a result. She had been studying about producers, researching the producing industry, and creating music at a nearby recording studio at this time. She decided to add Rodney Jerkins (also known as Darkchild) to her Myspace after learning about him. Soon after, he extended an invitation for her to visit Los Angeles so she could attend an audition for Purple Reign, a brand-new female group he was starting. A year later, the group signed a record deal with Motown, but it was canceled before any music could be heard. After the trio broke up, Monét turned to songwriting as a means of support while she awaited the development of her own music career.

A song on Diddy Dirty Money’s 2010 album Last Train to Paris was the first song she ever wrote. Before sending out the demos, she kept coming up with song hooks and sang the songs herself. She hoped the record companies would approve of her rendition sufficiently to retain her on the track as a feature.
