Controversy
Veena’s son Sachin Kapoor once sued her over a legitimate dispute related to their Rs 12 crore house. Veena’s friend and co-star Neelu Kohli had revealed in an interview that she had been fighting this case for a long time. He said,
Was always an issue. She had been fighting this case ever since I knew her. She used to pray and worship whenever her case was heard. Home was the only purpose of his life. That’s why I feel so bad for him. He has worked very hard for this house. But ultimately this is what happens to him. In the end no one got anything. That kid went to jail for 20 years. Now it’s a lifetime.”
Death
On 6 December 2022, Veena Kapoor was murdered by her younger son Sachin Kapoor in Juhu, Mumbai. Her son killed her by hitting her on the head multiple times with a baseball bat. Later, the accused son threw his mother’s body in a river near Raigarh district. His servant Lalu Kumar Mandal was involved in the murder. However, police later recovered the baseball bat and recovered his body.
