“There’s the producer part of you that loves some of the drama,” Lisa told Variety. “I’d be lying if I didn’t say you love the fact that the story continues. But you also have to understand that I am very emotionally involved with these young people.”

“It’s hard. There’s a human cost, not just a happy celebration where we can send a note to the cast and celebrate how well we’re doing,” Alex said.

Lisa was asked if she thought the rise in ratings would have an impact on Emmy consideration. “I don’t like to think about it like that because it’s still a very painful experience,” she said. “But it’s been an extraordinary series over the years, it’s had a lot of ups and downs, but we’ve stuck with it.”

Last week, Lisa shared that she had not had any contact with Raquel Leviss since the season finale aired.

When Alex was asked what to expect from season 11, she said, “I always say, ‘I don’t know.’ All of that will have to come up. And one of the challenges of this genre in particular is that we have much less control than anyone would like to impose on us.”
