ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: All Team Captains Names
Captain of India – Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma was chosen to lead the Indian contingent after Virat Kohli stepped down as T20 captain and BCCI removed him as ODI captain in 2021. Following tension between Kohli, Sharma, BCCI and former coach Ravi Shastri, Team India the track is back again and completely united. India have won the 2023 Asia Cup under the leadership of Rohit Sharma and are looking to use the home ground advantage and also lift the ICC World Cup trophy.
Australian captain – Pat Cummins
Aaron Finch captained the Australian team in 2019, and this time the team is led by Pat Cummins. Cummins is one of the best fast bowlers in the world and is also very skilled with the bat. Cummins has been Australia’s vice-captain since 2019, becoming the permanent captain following Tim Paine’s resignation. He is the first fast bowler to lead the Australian team.
Pakistan Captain – Babar Azam
Babar Azam is regarded as one of the best batsmen of the modern era. He was appointed as the captain of the Pakistan team in 2020 and led the country to many impressive victories. Although he is yet to win a major tournament, Azam led the Pakistan team to the finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup.
England captain – Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler was vice-captain at the 2019 World Cup under Eoin Morgan and played a key role in the team’s victory in the final match against New Zealand. An accomplished batsman and wicket-keeper, Buttler was appointed England captain after Morgan’s retirement and achieved success by leading England to win the T20 World Cup in 2022. With a strong squad, Buttler-led England are once again favorites to win the Cricket World Cup in 2023.
New Zealand captain – Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson led New Zealand to their second consecutive World Cup final in 2019. The team played incredibly well in the group stage and only lost to England on a technicality after a tie and a super over. After battling through a serious injury sustained in the 2023 IPL, Williamson is now healthy and will once again captain the New Zealand team at the 2023 World Cup.
