Valorant Leak Reveals Agent 12, Now Known As Killjoy

Valorant’s anticipated new agent has been revealed in a video leaked by Riot Games. Formerly known simply as Agent 12, Killjoy’s arrival has been highly highly anticipated by the Valorant community since Riot first started talking about its plans to add a new agent to the game.

When Valorant first began inviting players to its closed beta, it got massive viewer numbers on Twitch, thanks in part to its convoluted method of rewarding viewers with beta access. Since then, its popularity has slipped a bit, but it’s still capturing the attention of players and streaming audiences. Valorant added a new character and a new map when it moved from beta to full release, but since then it hasn’t received an update quite as substantial. Riot has instead been focused on patches, Battle Pass content, and adding some extremely cool but equally expensive cosmetics to the game.

That’s all set to change soon, with the arrival of Agent 12. The new agent’s existence has been hinted at with teases and leaks before, but a recent video from Riot shows the entirety of the new agent’s toolkit for the first time. Riot Games briefly published an article to its website featuring descriptions and video of Agent 12’s abilities, along with her name: Killjoy. It appears that that was a mistake, as Riot quickly removed the article, but not before Valorant fans got a hold of it. The video of Killjoy’s abilities has since been widely shared, including by Valorant dataminer floxay on Twitter. Killjoy is a technology-focused agent, using turrets and other devices to damage and slow enemies while opening them up for more attacks.

Riot Games hasn’t officially commented on the leak, but it has offered a new tease of Killjoy in the time since the leak was discovered. Valorant’s Twitter account posted four new screenshots of what appear to be Killjoy’s gadgets, along with the phrase “Wer ist sie?” meaning “Who is she?” in German, which presumably means that the new agent will be a German woman. Riot hasn’t said when it will be adding Killjoy to the game, but the start of Act 2 after the current Battle Pass ends on August 4th seems to be the most likely time for her debut.

Valorant can be a tough but rewarding game to get into, due to its reliance on teamwork and tough, tactical battles. Anyone wanting to jump in at the start of Act 2 will probably at least have a new agent to start from scratch with at the same time as everyone else, meaning August could be a good time to see what all the fuss is about.

Valorant is available now on PC.
