Two Kansas City shooting suspects identified as minors who had a ‘personal dispute’

As authorities continue to investigate the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs parade, two suspects have reportedly been identified as minors who have a personal dispute.

According to CNN, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said investigators believe the shooting at the parade was sparked by a personal dispute within a small group. It was pointed out that the parade was not the real objective.

Graves also stated that the shooting was not related to any local terrorism or extremism. “The results of the preliminary investigation have shown that there was no link to terrorism or local violent extremism,” Graves explained. “This appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in shooting.”

Graves later stated that more than a dozen victims have been reported, ranging in age from eight to 47 years old. He noted that at least half of the victims were under 16 years old.

Speaking about plans to charge those responsible for the Kansas City shooting, Graves said authorities have not yet charged them.

“This is still under investigation,” Graves said. “We have 24 hours until we have to press charges or release them. “We are working closely with the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office to present the most successful case for prosecution.”

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker published in X more details about the investigation. “I will use every tool at my disposal under Missouri law to allow me to address this tragedy,” Peters stated.

“We have a plan for a St. Patrick’s Day parade in Kansas City. We have parades all the time. I don’t think they will end,” Lucas said during the city’s press conference. “We certainly recognize the public safety challenges associated with them.”

Lucas also reminded everyone that this is not the first shooting at a parade or rally in the United States. “That is certainly a tragic incident for us because we have no experience with them.”

Noting that Kansas City had a Super Bowl parade last year without shootings or violence, Lucas stated: “We had one last year without this type of incident. We had a Kansas City Royals parade with almost no arrests in 2015.”

“So I don’t believe in any way that this is Kansas City. “I think there is a gun violence challenge in this community and many others.”
