“Tom was hospitalized last week after having trouble breathing and is now fighting for his life. He has idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). IPF is a rare lung disease, but it is not uncommon in our family. His father (my grandfather), a veteran of the US Air Force, passed away from this cancer 8 months ago, in April 2022.
