Néstor practiced gymnastics before he started creating videos on YouTube
Ethan Nestor was born on October 24, 1996 in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. As a trained gymnast from a very young age, Nestor won numerous competitions during his school years. Nestor’s passion was gymnastics before he started posting videos at the age of 15. Ethan’s YouTube career started because he had nothing else to do with his free time.
Gradually, YouTube replaced gymnastics as Ethan’s passion. After finishing high school, Ethan decided to focus on content creation instead of applying to college or pursuing professional gymnastics. He moved to Portland, Maine, and gave himself a year to see if YouTube could become a profitable venture. Within a year, he had been successful enough to ditch the idea of applying to college. Ethan told him tube filter that what he likes most about YouTube is interacting with his community:
“I think my favorite part of creating content on YouTube is the community. Sure, people can be overbearing at times, and there are many times when I need to disconnect from social media, but being able to interact with my community is awesome. It’s very comforting to know that no matter what time of day it is, I always have people to talk to.”
In a 2018 Q&A session with famous birthday, Nestor flirted with the idea of rekindling his passion for gymnastics, but only as a hobby and not a career. However, he was unable to incorporate the demands of the sport into his busy schedule. The content creator said tube filter that barely has a life outside of YouTube:
Outside of YouTube, I don’t really have much to do. I think that’s true for most YouTubers/content creators. This sounds a bit like a title, but YouTube really isn’t a job, it’s a lifestyle. I don’t have ‘working hours’, I just live from my job. It’s all I do! What I love. I’m so incredibly lucky to be able to do this for my job, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
Nestor and fellow YouTuber Markiplier removed Unus Annus after the channel garnered more than 4 million followers.
In November 2019, Nestor and his good friend Markiplier embarked on an ambitious YouTube project titled Unus Annus. His goal was to create and post as much as possible for a year before deleting the channel. The channel became an overwhelming success, attracting more than 4 million subscribers.
Unus Annus made Ethan’s schedule more hectic, but helped him gain more followers on his channel. he also told him tube filter that helped him organize his life: “Surprisingly, being so busy with Unus Annus has helped me a lot. I think the lack of structure was really starting to get to me, and not having anyone to push me but myself was really hard.”
As the clock ticked down on the deletion date, a section of fans refused to believe that Ethan and Mark would take down the channel. Deleting a project with over 4 million subscribers made no sense. However, the duo kept their promise. As of November 13, 2020, Unus Annus no longer has an online presence.
Ethan and Mark closed Unus Annus after completing one final broadcast. Nestor then posted a video on his channel, expressing pride in what he and Mark had accomplished over 365 days. He said:
“Unus Annus was something very, very special. I truly believe it was something that will go down in YouTube history and something that cannot be replicated. What we did was a first for the platform in the way that we did it and the tone that we pushed and the content that we created in the way that we presented it.”
Ethan views sexuality on a spectrum and does not consider himself 100% straight.
Spectrum sexuality is an idea used by a significant number of people to combat the notion that each person has a defined sexuality. Ethan told his followers in a January 15 Q&A that he fits the idea that sexuality is a spectrum. “It’s a spectrum family,” he said. “He’s a fucking wraith.” He added that he does not consider himself bisexual, but has kissed other men. Ethan then expressed his doubts about dating men, but insisted that he is not 100% straight:
“I don’t know if I would date a guy. He is a ghost! I think there are a lot of people to whom I say, ‘Chris Evans is super hot.’ He is fucking hot as hell. Would I go out with a boy? I think so. Like, I’ve kissed guys before. Would you say I’m bi? I don’t think so. Would you say I’m 100% straight? He’s a wraith!”
Ethan and his ex-girlfriend Mika broke up in August 2020 after dating for more than two years.
There were no indications of a break between Mika and Ethan before he announced the separation. One day after Valentine’s Day, Ethan declared his love for Mika through Instagram. “There’s no one else he’d rather yell weird noises and drink glasses of whole milk with,” he wrote alongside a series of photos.
In early August 2020, Ethan took to Twitter to let his followers know about the couple’s decision to end their relationship. The tweet suggested that they parted ways on friendly terms:
“This is an extremely difficult thing to say, but I wanted to let everyone know that Mika and I are no longer together. Please don’t feel like you have to choose sides. Mika continues to be an important person in my life and I am incredibly grateful for the time we spent together and I will always be happy for her and continue to support her.”
