Season 5 recap
The final season of Season 5 of The Resident, titled All Neon Moon, airs on May 17, 2022. Directed by Rob Corn and written by Amy Holden Jones and Andrew Chapman. The episode begins with a flashback when Conrad and Nic first hire Marion to babysit Gigi while they’re dating. Meanwhile, Irving tries to get Devon to talk to Leela because Devon decides to leave. A pregnant mother and a baby arrived, apparently with pulmonary edema. She has heart failure, and her heart can’t pump enough blood for her and her baby.
On the other hand, the doctors had a daring plan that would almost certainly fail and end in the death of the pregnant mother and/or her child. Leela and Padma went to the doctor to find out if Padma was pregnant. Cade is released and goes to see her father, who wants to do the same after the fall. Conrad suspects that Ian has an ulcer, but wants him to be examined further. He then discusses the pain and Nico with Winston since he went through something similar with his girlfriend. He advised him to keep the memories.
Cade realizes that her father has pancreatic cancer that no one knows about, and they have to operate on him because it’s operable and only Bell can. Meanwhile, Billie had a flash, but his eyesight remained unaffected, so he was allowed to have surgery. Ms. Alvarez’s illness caused pleurisy and her heart couldn’t beat for two days, so AJ and Devon suggested terminating the pregnancy. However, despite the challenge and danger, the husband decided to take his wife to run ECMO.
Cade confides in Conrad, and he comforts her by telling her what it was like with his father. He hugs Cade and thinks about Nic’s memories of him hugging someone who mistook him for someone else, and when he relieves, they talk about how much they love each other. Cade praises Billie for saving her father and hopes the cancer is gone. Afterwards, the two discuss their love for Conrad. Devon encourages Conrad to build new memories, and Conrad recalls how he made Nic swear that if anything happened to him, she would find love again, and she did the same.
