The movie ‘Coyote vs Acme’ is never released, even though John Cena and Lana Condor already filmed it

We have a sad new update on the next John Cena and Lana Condor movie Coyote vs. Acme

The two finished filming in the looney tunes film almost a year and a half ago, in May 2022, but now Warner Bros. is shelving the unreleased film.

Coyote vs. Acme It was set to follow “Wile E. Coyote, who after ACME products failed him one too many times in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a billboard attorney to sue ACME Corporation. The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer (Will Forte) against the latter’s intimidating former boss (Cena), but a growing friendship between the man and the caricature fuels his determination to win.

Originally scheduled for release in July 2023, the animated hybrid film was first slated for HBO Max but was later considered for a theatrical release.

“For three years, I was lucky enough to make a film about Wile E. Coyote, the most persistent, passionate and resilient character of all time,” director Dave Green shared in Twitter/X after the news was revealed. “He was surrounded by a brilliant team, who put their soul into this project for years. “We were all determined to honor the legacy of these historical figures and do it right.”

“Throughout the course, we were embraced by the test crowd who rewarded us with fantastic scores,” he continued. “I am more than proud of the final product and more than devastated by the WB’s decision. But in the spirit of Wile E. Coyote, resilience and perseverance triumph.”

“With the relaunch of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation in June, the studio has shifted its global strategy to focus on theatrical releases,” a spokesperson for WB Motion Picture Group said in a statement, via THR. “With this new direction, we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with Coyote vs. Acme. “We have enormous respect for the filmmakers, cast and crew, and are grateful for their contributions to the film.”
