New updates have emerged in the Riley Strain case involving a statement from the last person who spoke to Riley before her disappearance.
Riley, a student at the University of Missouri, disappeared from downtown Nashville in March. Authorities found his body in the Cumberland River about two weeks after he disappeared.
According USA Today, “Strain disappeared after being kicked out of Luke’s 32 Bridge Food and Drink on Nashville’s Lower Broadway while on vacation with fraternity brothers. He attended the University of Missouri and was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity.”
“Before his disappearance” USA Today He continued, “in surveillance footage he was seen walking through the city center, sometimes stumbling.”
Riley’s death ultimately appeared to be “accidental,” according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. However, many others suspect there is more to the story, especially since he didn’t have his cowboy boots, pants, or wallet when he was found.
Riley Strain’s last conversation before her disappearance
According NewsNation“Chris Dingman, a family friend of Riley Strain, says the last known person who spoke to the late University of Missouri student gave the family and then detectives a statement about what happened the night Strain He disappeared”.
“That was huge,” Dingman said. “That was something we were looking for. He told the detective his account of what happened to Riley.”
The last person who spoke to Riley reportedly confirmed that he was wearing pants and boots the night of his disappearance. This gives her family reason to believe that her death was not, in fact, accidental.
Additionally, the preliminary report found no water in his lungs, meaning he could have been dead before reaching the water. In other words, although professionals assumed that he drowned accidentally, this may not have been the case.
Riley’s family moved forward and ordered a second autopsy to get more answers. They are also asking Riley’s fraternity brothers to come forward with any information at this time, claiming they have not spoken yet.
“We haven’t really heard much from them,” Strain’s father, Ryan Gilbert, revealed. “There are many things we would like to know about them.”
“If I were in their situation, I would be knocking down those parents’ doors to tell them everything I could and help them in any way I could,” he added.
For now, Riley’s parents at least have more information about the last person who spoke to Riley that night.
